Funerals 

There comes a time when we are left with no choice but to say goodbye to someone through their death. 
From my experience of supporting the bereaved for many years I have seen common themes, behaviours and concerns people have. 
Whilst we may not be able to control someone's dying we can find ways of providing ourselves, and others, with comfort.  

By choosing to use a Professional Celebrant for a funeral service you have an element of control over the way you say goodbye. 
At a time of shock, numbness and mixed emotions, a well done, Celebrant led service can be a fitting tribute to your loved one.

I was initially inspired to become a Professional Celebrant because of my passion for supporting the bereaved. Unfortunately, over the years I have been witness to funeral services that have left families experiencing further unnecessary upset. I have seen funerals cause additional trauma to families. I have supported parents and their children who have been left confused and frightened by funeral services where the language used was not child friendly and appropriate. I have also seen the comfort and peace that a well managed funeral service can bring.


I believe that the family are at the heart of the process and that they should be consulted and encouraged to contribute where they can. 


Memorials


A memorial service can be a way of providing comfort and an opportunity to say goodbye for those who may have not been able to attend the funeral service, or it can be a way of remembering a loved one after a period of time has passed following their death.


Memorials can take place in a place that feels fitting, perhaps on a beach, in a park or in a venue of your choice.


A stunning, picturesque location to hold a Memorial Service in Cornwall is Barnoon Chapel in St Ives, overlooking Porthmeor Beach.  This beautifully renovated chapel,  overlooking the beach, is owned by Saints Funeral Services.

Children & Young People



Explaining to a child that someone has died is an especially difficult thing to do. It can feel challenging to know what to say and how to explain what has happened in a sensitive way, especially if the death has been traumatic.



I specialise in childhood bereavement and I would be happy to talk to you about what to say to your children and talk through ideas on how to help your child/children through the funeral process.
